Instead of sleeping

Jaw clenched tight

No relaxing my head

Pillows unsoft

Why even lay in bed


Every time I close my eyes

Thoughts pummel my head

Every word from A to Z

Continuous thoughts distracting me


Took two pills to fall asleep

My thoughts are Herculean

They won't let me be

Sleep is ancestral to me


Shall I stay awake

Let my thoughts be free

The Sun has risen

No time for sleep
